Michigan UP Vacay 2014

Alright so, I clearly need to learn how to actually use this whole blog thing. And since I'm seriously missing the summer weather already, I decided to make a blog post about our family vacation up to beautiful Michigan this past August! Our family friend, Bill, owns a little beach house right on Lake Superior, and up until two summers ago, I hadn't been there since I was a little girl. But we've started a new tradition and this was our second year up there again, with ten people!

We took the ferry boat over to Mackinac Island again this year and spent the day over there shopping and eating. And hiking. Which none of us was prepared for, since Bill decided to try and get us lost in the woods. It's such a beautiful place, and some of the old houses built there are amazing.

Wild blueberries grow everywhere in Michigan! And there happens to be a whole patch of them right in front of the cabin. They're so tiny, it takes forever to pick enough to make blueberry pancakes and a whole pie. But they're the best, so it's soooo worth it! And of course while they were being washed, I could't stop myself from having a quick food photography session outside the kitchen!

I stumbled across this image from two years ago in Michigan while going through things. Hair is a mess, headband falling off. But the sunshine is gorgeous, one of my best friends is next to me, and Daniel has that strange little smirk  on his face that he gets when I do something that he's trying not to laugh at.  Not sure who took my camera and snapped it, but I love it <3
